Oooh, nature, my favorite

Hi there! I just thought I would post a little post about gardening so that you all might learn from my vast experience.

Some reasons not to let your garden get overgrown with weeds.

1. It is unattractive to the human eye and artistic sensibilities.

2. The things you have actually planted in your garden suffer due to competition.

3. It will sadden and embarrass you to see your once lovely garden in such a state.

4. You will feel compelled to remedy the situation. If you do not use chemicals this may mean hand pulling an obscene amount of grass from a ridiculously large area.

5. If it is hot, this is unpleasant.

6. Bad, bad things lurk in weeds.

OK, so it is technically only one bad thing (and her cottonball of billions of baby bad things).

It is clear isn't it? You do know what this is, right? No? Look it up.
I pulled up a clump of grass, and there she was. I missed grabbing her by about a centimeter.
That was the end of the weed pulling that day.
I would like to say "live and let live" or something about all God's creatures....but no. I smushed her and her little ones too.

One summer, when my boys were little, we found over 20 of these in and around our house. Thank goodness we see them only once in a while now!

Eewwww! I HATE spiders, especially black widows. I would have emptied a can of spray on it after having stomped on it, just for good measure. I'm better than I used to be about spiders though. I tend to let the other ones live and let live, unless they are inside my house.

Hi Shannon, I had to stop by since you left such a nice comment on my blog.

Bugs don't scare me but snakes do - but I don't have to contend with black widows either. I think it might be too wet here, thank goodness.

I like your blog - mine has turned into a monster - needing attention but also giving me a semi-anonymous place to get that stupid little voice out of my head. LOL

ugh, I can't stand spiders either. That one looks very similar to our Aussie "red-back" spider, also poisonous, we kill those every time we see them too, they are welcome to the bush, just not in our yard LOL

Oh my gosh, it's a good thing you got the babies before they could grow up!

I've never actually seen one of those! My garden is probably too weedy. :)

Eww, glad you saw it before it was on you! Ick, ick, ick! Thanksf or the photographic evidence showing that you did indeed stomp her and her babies. With some things you can never be too sure--and that is one of them. ::shudder::
